G3 freezes

I have P4 2.8ghz / 1gb ram / 128mb geforce FX5200 card.(low profile AGP)

Running Gothic 3 works slowly but surely for 3-4 minutes then freezes, the sound keeps running but nothing moves. I have to turn my pc off as getting back into windows is impossible.

Im going to upgrade the graphics card to a XFX 6200 / 256mb / DDR2 / 64bit. AGP shader3.0 / (low profile) - which is the best i can get without changing my pc case and psu.
Will this stop it freezing ? or is the extra 1gig of system ram more important to buy first ??

Updated flash bios, graphic card driver and it acually runs for at least an hour without freezing up !

The whole PC freezing is a sign that the game is not the primary problem. An incompatible game would simply crash, but not drag the whole PC down with it.

The improvement reached through BIOS update, etc. also support this impression. Something is wrong with your PC. A probable reason for freezing is heat: at least one component goes beyond the safe temperature when put under heavy load. A sensor in combination with the BIOS turns it off to avoid hardware damage.

An upgrade to a GeForce 6200 doesn´t make much sense. Both cards are for office PCs.
