I must be getting old, as I have completely missed the announcement of an ARPG called "Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned". It's supposed to be out this fall. Not sure how interesting it will be, or whether it should be covered here (I don't even know if it has been covered here..?), but it might be worth a look.

A few links:

I like the original Sea Dogs by Akella, but I'm not sure whether or not this is a similar game.

I'd like to see a remake of Seven Cities of Gold. It was kind of 'piratey' and best played on the Atari 800.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm keen to hear about any and all single player RPGs. Pirates not my thing, but then the setting isn't important if it's a good game eh?

And as long as it's nothing to do with those stupid movies.

What month is fall in America?

Roughly, late September thru early December is considered fall in the States

It's going to coincide with Fallout New Vegas then. Why can't they try and space these things out a bit?

Thanks; I always wondered what they meant with the term of "fall" for several years now.

Fall is a shorter word for the Autumn season. We're too lazy to say Autumn :) Basically, it's the season when all the leaves "fall" off the trees.

I see, thanks. :)

So this game is under Disney license, right?

I wish someone would actually make a good pirate crpg, it could be a lot of fun. I'm not interested in anything based in the PotC universe though...

JDR: There really arent that many.

Akella's Seadogs was fun, but fairly light on RPG elements. Sadly their later games, including PotC, were bug-infested pieces of manure. Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales stand out as the buggiest game I've ever played, and I will never touch anything from that studio again…

They also made a PotC game that I think has been modded to a more serious setting.

Interesting to see a picture of him after all this years, Alrik. Looks pretty good for an old guy. I lost interest in his music a long time ago, though. He was sure good back in the day.

Zaleukos, this isn't being done by Akella, afaik.

Correct, so there might be hope for the title. I'm not very keen on the PotC universe though.

My rambling was to address JDRs craving for Piratey RPGs outside this setting.:)

Don't get your hopes up too high. This game is being developed by Propaganda Games, and published by Disney, who happens to be their parent company.

Propaganda Games has only developed one previous title to date, Turok (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turok_(2008_video_game)), which was pretty terrible imo.

Yeah, Turok wasn't very good. We'll see what they do with this one.
