I know I'm getting X-Box360 for Christmas so I'm biting the bullet and going to get the Kinect as well. The reviews for it have been better than I anticipated, plus that Dance Central looks like a lot of fun while looking like a complete idiot and working out. A win/win/win imo :D
Does anyone have Kinect yet? Any thoughts on it?

Make sure you have enough room for it ;)

I consided getting it but didnt. The launch games are very superficial som downright awful. People say the get bored to them in few hours. Dance central is the only one that seems decent, but Im not that much into the genre. Concept is interesting but motion detection is not as good as on traditional motion sensor. They say ms had a chance to make it more accurate but they skipped the chance to cut costs.

I play games from the comfort of my bed, so all those 'wave your arms' gimmicks won't work for me

I play games for the fun of it. Whether it's a thought provoking RPG or a brain dead shooter. If it's fun I'll play it.
With that in mind, what wouldn't be more fun that actually using your body as a controller. I know the choice of games are limited and the majority of them suck, but it's always like that in the beginning. There was only one good game for the Nintendo when it first came out and that was Super Mario Brothers. This one looks like Dance Central is the only one that makes good use of the kinect, but I expect an rpg to be thrown in there sooner or later :)
Personally I would play those Dance Dance games I see in the arcades, but don't want to look like a fool. I already stick out like a sore thumb over here, no need to add "white guy dancing/having a seizure" into the mix :D

Actually, I play my XBox almost exclusively to exercise. I've got the thing sitting downstairs in a room where the exercise bike is the only chair.
I'll probably end up getting Kinect some day but right now there really aren't enough games. I live alone so no worries about looking like an idiot. The seizure could be more trouble. I wonder if I can call in an emergency like "if I don't call back in twenty minutes - come get me"? ;)

I picked up the Kinect once it got 'hacked' because I'm mostly interested in the depth ability and wanted to see what I could do with it from an interface perspective. Really like some of the things people have done with it already but I've not spent much time so far with that.
While I was at it I picked up Dance Central and surprisingly I really enjoy it though dont really like the music. Its ability to detect if you are doing the moves correctly is surprisingly good and far better than I expected after seeing things like the Wii in action. You can turn off the camera so that it doesn't take pictures of you while you look like an idiot.
Also I have it set up in a a reasonably small space. 10ft long by 7-8 ft wide. Floor space is 6 ft long by 5 ft wide (need 7 ft including arms). Also the camera is probably 4-5 ft to the right of the TV since I dont have space in front of the tv. It works really well in the dark though it might not detect your face if you dont turn on a light. I'm generally impressed and see it doing really well as a home exercise trainer.

Thanks a lot figment. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I have about the same amount of space you have. My only concern was that I might not have enough space to move around in.
The main reason I want to get it is for the exercise. I am horrible at doing any kind of exercise because it bores me and I hate being BORED :), but dancing around like an idiot to some music sounds like a bunch of fun. From what you said and from what I read, Dance Central's ability to detect your movements is far better than any of the other games out there.
Here is a bunch of cool hacks for the Kinect (http://www.youtube.com/user/vsauce#p/u/2/ho8KVOe_y08) from Vsauce. Here's also the ultimate horrible white guy dance contest. (http://www.youtube.com/user/wackygamercomedy#p/u/15/hKdcK1pSIK4) It's from wackygamer. Just too funny, but a little long.

There are a bunch of videos at Giant Bomb (http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/) covering each of the launch day games - they are in the "Quick Looks" tab page 2 & 3. The videos include an inset video of the people playing.

Jess really wanted it, so we got it despite my protests that it's an expensive gimmick.
I have to say, I'm really impressed . The response of the system to your movements, the onscreen menus, the voice controls - it really is quite amazing. Besides the games, you can also control your xbox via voice commands and hand swipes from the couch, we're going to be experimenting w/ the netflix controls and stuff today.
