Could be someone just wanted to register and never got around to posting. The bots I've seen don't normally upload an avatar.

You're wrong. I've for instance seen many Terminator avatars on different forums. Hah!!!

I've never seen bots uploading avatars either.
And there's the forum-specific term of a "Lurker", too.

ah ok, I thot shadowman was adding avatars to bot names - those are some clever avatars, it makes you wonder if they equal that in contributions.
