I just ordered this. I don't know how good of a game it is but I couldn't pass it up for $4.90!!!
So if you've considered getting this game, nows the time. The sale lasts 48 hours.
Get it at Go Gamer here (http://www.gogamer.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=4761212&categoryId=65172)

Thereīs already a thread about the GoGamer deal in General CRPG. ;)
SF2 is a great game, my favourite one last year. The SF2 review was my last article for RPGDot. It was actually posted after the decision to leave had been made.
I gave it a 9/10 at RPGDot. Most games would be rated lower at RPGWatch because we have stricter criteria. But not SF2 - on RPGWatch it would receive a 5/5.
So personal taste aside SpellForce 2 is a superb single player game. No surprise that EA bought the developer a few months after release.

Oops... sorry... I didn't see the post. I thought it was odd that such a good deal hadn't been mentioned already :)

Agree with Gorath. It is a really well made game, and lots of fun. A couple of words of warning, though, since this is an RPG site:
1) The RPG'ing is definitely on the light side. Lots of hand-holding on quests, almost no meaningful choices, and very limited character development.
2) Loot is mostly boring. Too many items with only marginal statistical differences.

Would SF2 be just as much fun for someone who never played the first game?

Maybe even more because many old SpellForce fans were shocked how many options Phenomic has cut out of the original game.
SF2 is a polished, well produced mainstream RPG/RTS mix which might be a bit shallow for a hardcore RPGer.
SF1 is a feature overkill. Action-RPG, RTS and base building 1/3rd each. 100+ hour campaign, a couple of serious mistakes, which were all fixed in SF2. Still a good game though.

It seems the whole shipment has keycode issues. I officially take back my recommendation.

Of Dragonstorm? Or GoGamer's stock of the base game?

Wasn't there a problem in the initial English release too ? I remember that the
first patch did something for it supposedly but there is also a problem with the
fonts they used to print the key on the dvd box (you cannot distinguish
between some letters and numbers and the print is tiny: ie 0 and D looks the
same as I recall).

That was SpellForce 1.
Several people reported the GoGamer copies came without a CD key.
The add-on doesnīt work with download versions. Itīs unlikely this problem will be fixed because the studio is no longer available.

That was SpellForce 1.
You are right ofcourse.
Funny thing is I recently (1-2 months) reinstalled and played it (SF1) on my laptop and I had to insert the key 5-6 times before I got it right (just
remembered that).
I plead premature altzheimer :-/

?
Why should EA Phenomic make a patch for JoWooD?
Seem the missing code isnīt such a big problem. Just call Aspyrīs hotline.

Okay... I know it's weird to bring up a dead thread like this... but...
I just opened Spellforce 2 yesterday... yes... it has taken me over a year to get around to playing it. So... just like mentioned in this thread, there is no CD Key to be found anywhere... not in the manual, not on the CD case... nowhere.
So, I emailed Aspyr, and they told me that they no longer support this problem. They told me to email Dreamcatcher games.
So, I emailed dreamcatcher and they haven't answered me yet.
Does anyone know of a way for me to get this game working? It's rather often that I buy a game and don't get around to playing it for over a year... and it's just not right that I be punished for waiting.
Has anyone had to contact dreamcatcher about this, and if so did they help you?
I would appreciate any help that anyone has.

The best solution would of course be a new s/n from Dreamcatcher.
Maybe you can find a s/n or a keygen with Google.
A noCD / fixed .exe might also also make it possible to play the SP campaign. Make sure your virus scanner is up to date before you try this.
Or maybe one of our forum members can PM you his s/n.
You only need patch 1.02. The annoying camera bug only appears when you install the Dragon Storm add-on.

Yeah... I'm hoping Dreamcatcher comes back with a good answer :)
I've thought about a keygen or crack... but I just don't need the hassle of potential malware/virus/etc...
I did patch the game to 1.02 as soon as I installed it. Then when it asked for the CD key as it started up, I looked around and thought "ummmm... what CD key".
Here's to hoping Dreamcatcher comes through... I'd really kinda like to play this game... granted, I only paid 5 bucks and change for it (as per my initial post that created this thread so long ago)... so I guess my heart won't be broken if I can't get it to work :(

Okay... I'm just posting this here as an FYI for anyone who might have this problem in the future...
I contacted Dreamcatcher (Aspyr no longer supports Spellforce 2 - not even giving out CD Keys to owners of the game). After a couple of days Dreamcatcher replied and asked me to send them a picture of my actual CD... as proof that I bought the game. They said that once they received that, they would send me a key.
So... I have sent them the pic, and should hopefully get my key in a day or two.

Are we satisfied ...?
Nope... After Dreamcatcher got my picture of the game, they emailed me and told me that they don't have CD keys for that version. They told me that I have to contact JoWood...
So... now I've sent JoWood the same information, and I haven't heard back from them yet.
I'm beginning to wonder if the game is good enough to warrant going through this much trouble... first Aspyr... then DreamCatcher... now JoWood... :(

Ready to get the money, "unready" so to say to provide support
It's exactly the "fire & forget" philosophy I've described in "A Thought".
