Here is where I recognize all those "dots". The old site just flood with a bunch of noobs asking silly and lazy questions. I am glad to find you all here. Just want to say "Hello" to you all. Long live, Gothic fans!!

Actually, those "noobs" are the people who start to get interested in RPGs - so treat them kindly and help them. They are the next generation of roleplaying gamers.

And something else I just noticed...RPGWatch is missing from the Community list over at the PB G3 website. Someone might want to address that issue.
Just a thought I had...

So true.. and besides, we've all been newbies before. Something we should never forget. :)

Just that many of us were n00bs before the internet, so the audience who could laugh at our ineptitude was much smaller ;)

Shoot Corwin, I think we remember games that included coding for "Play by [snail] Mail".
Ragnar
October 27th, 2006, 15:58
Hell…I remember those. You got a bunch of punch cards in the mail and you set there calculating you next move and then marked you choices on the card and mailed them off to be processed in that weeks move. I played some kind of space quest game…was really cool but got quite expensive depending of your playing options. The game was called Beyond something or other…mind is getting feeble with age. :-/
Wow...what a flash back!

That sort of thing had me excited for the PSP turn-based strategy game 'Field Commander', where you could play 'transmission mode', which was 'play by email' but over the internet. The promise was that you'd make moves and then your opponent could log in and make their moves. Too bad Sony completely botched it (as usual  ) - you have to go through a full login and EULA acceptance every time you want to make your moves, and all you see is the *results* of what your opponent did ...

I don't go quite that far back, but I remember getting stuck in Zork 2 and having to use a friends 1200 baud modem to log onto compuserve to get hints. SSI, I remember playing a game called Galactic Adventures on my Atari 800. Wow times have changed.

Hi all former Dotters.
I'm glad, i finally found this site. This site seems to be much quicker than the old dot.

Hello from an old timer RPGDot member (I was MMO moderator and newseditor for a while but then collapsed). I just noticed RPGDot staff has moved to this new site.
I stopped reading RPGDot when the new layout for the site was done. It went into complete mess. This new site looks much better and promising.
Hello to everyone who might remember me :)

Yes it is, the site is surely looking like home again. Of course I won't be totally happy til I get my old name back, but I imagine most know what it was. ;)

Hiya again Danicek (been a while), hehe, yeah it's a bit like moving into a new house, takes a couple of weeks to get the couch in "just the right place", and trying to remember which (bleeping) draw you put the cutley in etc, but it's nice to have our RPG'ers freed from coporate "over-lording" though (and that recent horrible over-crouded RPGdot layout "upgrade").

It's a shame to see the old Dot become the zombie it is now. I was wondering what had happened to the place, the quality had dropped markedly and the layout had changed. It was almost like squatters had moved in. Here's hoping you get this all up and running like clockwork and then you can bite your thumb at those who almost ruined the fun. ;)
How goes the operation? Have you got all your old staff to go with you?
The dark theme is much nicer than the white, BTW. Maybe make it standard for viewers until you get the visuals you want? Much easier on the eyes too.

Stopped in at the Dot for a visit tonight, and it is indeed very sad. I think the bots are making more posts than the users. It goes to prove that, in the end, the community makes the site, not the other way around. Still, it's disappointing to see a place I really, really called "home" fall so far.

Yes, I gave it a try few days ago and was dissapointed to see all the things going down so rapidly. I thought that it may live, probably forming some different community.

Yep. The usual staff movements aside, everyone came over. There's a bunch of stuff we still need to do but the site is going well. :)

I guess you can't call me a former dot but I did go there almost everyday, but didn't post in the forums. You know something funny though I didn't even know the old dot had a forums until a while ago you did a survey over there on what people thought of the forums and one of the answers was "I didn't even know dot had a forum" or something like that. I thought it was funny and been lurking there ever since. Well until you guys seperated. I go there from time to time but mostly I lurk here now :) After the article "Lost my connection:ARRRGGHH" I completely lost faith in it being revived.
Anyways from one lurker to you guys thanks for brining up to the minute RPG goodness over here.
