Places of Power-(Possible Mild Spoiler)

This is just a question on some game mechanics, but I tagged it to err on the side of caution.

I've just acquired the Igni sign, and retuned my medallion to detect magic.
When a place of power is found, a dialogue sequence ensues asking me if I want to "Perform the Ritual of Magic". The manual is pretty skanty on info about this, but I'm assuming this gives some enhancement factor, either to a sign or a skill. Is there some way to tell what is being enhanced?

It adds an icon below your talisman. It adds 50% to all signs' intensity.

Thanks. I must have missed it as I had a bit of a mad dog problem shortly thereafter. :)

The reason it asks you is that (normally) you can only do this once per day -- so you might want to save it until just before a key fight, for example, plus they can be used for something else later on.
