Gothic 4 - Planned for Early 2010 ?

Why are you surprised? Development of the game have probably only begun this year, after the PB/Jowood divorce, so it was bound to take a while before its release. At least, this means that the new designers are not rushing it, so hopefully G4 will be more stable.

Besides, this should give me enough time to get around to playing the third one. ;)

well....i'm not surprised......i saw the G4 cam video...and it's awesome....hope that the game will be way better than the ones before....hope G4's looks will overpass those of Project Offset...just take a look at that PRG!!!

Since Risen has been announced for October 2, 2009, I've been trying to find out some news about a possible release date for Gothic 4. The screenshots I've seen so far, look absolutely amazing.

Looking at the latest Risen screenshots, and the blog site, it has certainly started looking more interesting than it was looking a few months ago.

Now it just remains to be seen which of these two games are going to turn out a buggy mess...

Heh - yeah, and it's also the only and most recent one that came up here when I searched for Gothic 4 release date... but the reason for the search result might well be...

Yup the ones from E3 and some new ones from some German magazines which look a bit better.

What I didn't like was the very actionish look of the combat in the video. I know it was far from being a finished build, so I still have hope that it might not be as bad as it looked. I hated how you could see the health bar floating above the head of every single enemy on the screen simultaneously. It also looked like you were fighting many more enemies at once compared to the previous games, giving me the impression of being an "uber hero" who could just mow down hoards of monsters. It just looked way too hack and slash for a Gothic game imo.

Holy cow has it been two years since this was announced? It seems like just yesterday that PB and Jowood were all nice and cuddly with each other :D

I don't really have any opinion on the trailer other than I'll wait and see.

Yep - gave it a very 'console action-RPG' look to the whole thing. But since that was the context of that preview ... and who knows the options available.

In other words, yes, I'm holding out all optimism until forced to abandon it ... :D
