Looks good :D

After long and impatient awaiting, the time has come - we encourage you to download the latest version of patch (1.2) for The Witcher. We have made a lot of effort to ensure that patch 1.2 has been tested in the best possible way, and at the same time to present it to you before Christmas, as we have promised. Patch 1.2 fixes, among all, the issues of older versions that were most commented on, such as long loading and saving times, loading/saving mechanism, removes many possible random crashes, as well as several minor bugs. Patch 1.2 works with older versions of the game, starting from 1.0, and is available for download from here (http://www.thewitcher.com/registration/en/www/patch.html).

Patch 1.2 Major Fixes
================================================== ====

Gameplay and text bugs fixed:
- Fixes for Alina not being at her home when she should (Act 4).
- Wife's Tears Potion fixes.
- Fixes for usable doors on the swamps (Act 5).
- Fixes for Alchemist in manufacture giving quest items to Geralt (Act 3).
- Fixes for some items to be found in Fields (Act 4).
- Fixes for a disappearing enemy in quest Haunted House (Act2).
- Fixed problems with Alvin's spawn (Act 1).
- Few minor text fixes for all languages.

Code bugs fixed:
- Loading times are much faster!
- Saving is much faster!
- Another portion of stability improvements.
- Fix for rare "red rectangle" effect on loading bar.
- Quest tracking fixes.
- Some cursor fixes connected with finishers in tight places.
- Quest now won't update when Geralt is dead causing multiple problems.
- Autosave mechanism fixes (numeration).
- Savegame files fixes – some irrelevant information was sometimes generated inside.
- The game won't make an autosave if Geralt has an effect preventing him from talking (like knockdown, stun, push) - the result would be no talking at all for the rest of the game.
- Now you can't attack neutral NPCs if you input the second (etc.) sword sequence in them, while first attacking a hostile.
- Dandelion's music won't be 'echoed' while changing location twice.
- The game can handle broken savegames now – it returns to main menu.
- Motion blur effect won't stay active despite Blizzard potion wearing off – drinking, then changing location, then cutscene.
- Final fixes for weapons disappearing from enemies’ hands.
- Grass and small stones being multiplied – fixed.
- Fixes for receiving damage from Striga while being far away.

Art bugs fixed:
- Few level decoration fixes.
- Fixes for barghest attack animation.

Wow! The only annoying thing about this game is the insane save and load times. I can't wait :D

Thanks, Kalniel

I stopped playing it when i got to the trade quarters. Never explored it at all. And now, i just realized how wonderful The Withcer world is. I was wondering why people was grouping together. Muscians, Bards and Aclhemist. Or poor people with merchants.

Then it occur to me. They were all seeking shelter because of the rain. Soo wonderful.

I then roamed around on my quest. I come to a square, when the rain stops. And there was muscians and a jester. WoW. I really enjoyed those little details.

I know it wasn't patch 1.2 that made this. Its just witcher. Its such adorable game.Love it. Music, graphic. And now when the load times has been delt with (not the frequency though...) i have been wasting two hours in the world of Geralt.

(And now the news of a new patch for Gothic 3... And release of Drakensang in q 1 of 2008... the life is good! )

Guess I'm the only person around here that actually disappointed to see the patch. Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy. But my DVD drive broke, so the only way I can play the Witcher was to download a no-DVD "fix." Now I'm anxious to get the new patch installed, but when I do I figure my copy protection disable won't work anymore. ARRRGHH!! Still waiting on my new drive... maybe someone will release a new no-DVD fix tomorrow! :please:

@Jabber, why not just buy a new one? Costs half what the game does, and you'll certainly need one anyway.

I have installed it and I must say I do see an improvement in loading times. I would say most are cut in half if not more, some only cut by a third. But a marked improvement.

I also installed over a current game as I had just restarted a second play through. So far it does not seem to matter.

I have found some annoying thing in Act III... don't know what. But i guess its because of TW not the patch. Suddenly people are talking to me like i KNOW them. Real frustrating. And a great "immersion braker".

Like when a dude decided to take Alvin to either Triss or Sha.. <whatever her name is> . Who was that??? Felt like i missed out on something. Started to blame the patch first, but then more stuff of the same thing happened (the "posh party" was another strange part). I never understood the "other" witcher Berenger in ACT II either, but thought it was supposed i missed reading something in some dialog

I have put aside The Witcher for now. I am just to confused about the character i suppose to know...

Well, you probably DO know them; it's just that you've forgotten that piece of information!!

It's your buddy the Bard that you meet in the tavern in Act II--remember Geralt used to hang out with him and Zoltan, etc??--Dandelion.

I did... That's what I meant by "Still waiting on my new drive." I ordered it from Newegg. I came yesterday but wasn't what I was expecting, so it'll be another week probably.

Corwin and Margrette.

I figured something like that. Problem is that i never talked to him in Act II or hang out with him and the dwarf in any bar...

Not saying the game is bad, because of this, but it was too much "and who on earth are you...". Problem with Berengar in act II was irritating. Why should i look for clue about a withcer i didn't know or didn't care about. Escpecially in the swamp when i found people dead and suddenly i had a clue about a quest i didn't know i followed.

Small irritating things. But i guess a picture isn't perfect until the flaw is revealed. :)

Oh, and the princess in ACT III during the posh party. She talked to me like i knew her. Did I? :)

Anyone else having CTDs since patch 1.2 came out? Everything runs much faster but I've had two CTD today. I'm curious if it is just my machine or not.

@mute
The intro movie is the princess. You definatly know her since you saved her from the striga spell :)

AhA! :) Well, i think every game should have a pamplet: FAQ for stupid players!

And to your CTD, my game is as stable now as before... (Not that it will help you!)
