Here's a nice Christmas present...Iron Tower has just released the anticipated second combat trailer for The Age of Decadence. Here's a direct link to the file on their server (http://www.irontowerstudio.com/video/AoD_combat2.avi) (73Mb, .avi with divx encoding) and I'm sure Iron Tower would appreciate the feedback, so please comment.
More information. (http://www.rpgwatch.com/show/newsbit?newsbit=7582)

Loved it. I have to head off to do the Christmas thing so I'll comment in more detail later. Great job, Vince.

Weird ending.

Still loving it. Not too sure about the soundtrack, but it's cool.

Nice music with a perfect mood imho.
Good looking graphics and cool animation, loved the crush to the head :D
Now I'm more interestend in that game than before.

Indeed a weird ending, what appened, some gunshots?
The combat sound are missing.

Hmm actually looked pretty cool....may have to get over my general dislike of vaultdweller to try this;)

I agree on the ending though...

One handed crossbow. Anyway, it's not an in-game situation. I didn't want to end the video with the PC standing in the middle with a dumb look on his face, so we cranked up the noble's critical strike skill and added everyone's favorite one-liner.

The combat sound are missing.
We'll get to it later.

I'm humbled by your noble sacrifice.

The game looks fantastic. I do hope it won't be so over the top difficult on combat given who is making it. Is it party based?

Nope, not party based. You'll be able to get some manpower from your factions every now and then though. The "manpower" would fight independently and you'll not be able to control them.

No, we aren't planning to make it over the top difficult, but unlike many recent games it will be challenging.

Looks like someone forgot to compress the audio. Here's a version with the audio compressed to mp3 [45 MB]:

And here's another with the video compressed just a little more [20 MB]:

Happy Hanukkah!
Looks like I'll have another game to buy in '08. :D

Beautiful! Looking forward to a combat video with actual fighting sounds, but the animations and descriptive feedback are superb. I like the number of combat options available (guessing due to training?) and the interface looks extremely easy to use.
The music is great too. Odd, anachronistic, but I have to confess a fondness for music of that sort.

Good choice :)

Hey, I knew I forgot something. Thought it was because of high-res and good quality, was too tired to check that stuff at night. I'll try your link and will replace the video at our website, if you don't mind.

Bummer it is not party based. Hard to be tactical with one avatar.

Tell that to John McClane.

I'm glad it's not a party based game. It's a huge plus for me.

Yeah, I tend to prefer solo character RPGs as well. Having some tag-along companions for segments of the game is ok, but I'd prefer to not control them but at the same time I'd like the AI to be good enough to run NPCs competently.

Deeper comments, now that I've had the time. To be honest, these are nitpicks of relatively little consequence - I'd be pretty satisfied if it stayed as is. Still, in the interest of improvement...

- I'd appreciate a weapon quick-switch button to change between two weapon configurations. No big deal.

- The animation quality is quite good but I'd like more impact for hits. They seem to step back almost calmly, with little sign of impact or urgency. Perhaps some blood? Combat sounds would obviously help and may remove the need for animation changes but it's hard to tell without seeing (hearing) it.

- This is most obvious for the critical hit against the PC. The text says "massive damage to internal organs" but visually it looks like a scratch.

- The knockdown with the hammer seemed to have no gameplay impact - or did I miss it? No lost turn or reduced APs for being on the ground?

- The disarm needs some bling. Whether it's some small particle effect or an animation like throwing his arms up in surprise. Then enemy just looks static. Even floating text - *disarmed* that rises from the enemy.

- I see the authenticity of the hammer is being questioned - leave it as is. Whether it's exactly Roman or not I don't care but it's cool weapon choice - very slow but very damaging (I assume) and the knockdown is cool. Gameplay over realism minutae.

Love the whirlwind, too.

Again, these are nitpicks. I do think the attack impact needs some tweaking to keep up with the quality of everything else and I'd like to see the disarm improved.
