King's Bounty - First Russian Review, Screens

CRPG.ru dropped us a line to say they have posted the first web review (http://www.crpg.ru/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2287) of Katauri's King's Bounty. The score appears to be 9.5/10 so apparently they like it a whole lot - but we'll need the help of any Russian readers to know more.

I didn't realise it was the same franchise as the 1990 game.

The review really looks like a list of features from the press-release mixed with praise from the reviewer.

Brief summary is as follows:

- It's very addictive, buy a copy for your girlfriend this Friday or you'll have to fight for it over the weekend

- It has a minimum of 40 hours of gameplay resulting in ~2 weeks for one walkthrough

- Budget was not high, but all the elements of the game were made with loving care and impressive attention to detail

- Engine is rather old, but artist's work makes it look good and required system specs are low

- Tactical battles have come straight from Heroes of Might & Magic series with a bit of JRPG spice like FinalFantsy-like guardian spirits and are really well-polished.

- Game texts are filled with healthy humor(reviewer makes a note that some consider it to be not really halthy and looking like game dialogues were written by programmers, like in Space Rangers, but strongly disagrees)

- He also notes that pathfinding is sometimes poor, but apart from that there are no significant problems

- Summary line states that the mixture has blended perfectly, every element fits the game and cannot be removed

Takes a ridiculously long time to load, but that is indeed a nice video.

I'm definitely getting this game.
