Alrik writes in to point out a discussion on console vs PC development between Bernd Beyreuther (Radon Labs, Drakensang) and Timo Ullmann (Yager Development) (http://www.golem.de/0804/59240.html). The conversation is in German but my Google-fu says it's a common-sense debate, with both sides acknowledging some strengths and weaknesses with the platforms and that certain projects suit a particular format. Bernd points out that Drakensang's core market is German CRPG players and they are primarily PC-based.

Hmmm... why is a guy who does not play PC games (or cRPGs in general for that matter) in charge of making Drakensang? Why does he want to do it and why do people let him?

In fairness to him, I think you'd find a lot of high level devs don't have the time to game outside of their own projects. I don't know Radon Labs very well but according to this dev diary (here (http://www.drakensang.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34
]Read%20on)) the core team played PnP DSA for nearly 10 years together - they even have a photo of the group during a play session in the '90s. Apparently they always wanted to make a new DSA game and first made contact about the license in 2001.
They sound pretty genuine to me.

Aye, they're a good group, and Bernd is a pretty smart fella.
With awesome eyebrows.

Lol, it's not just high level devs, I game about 10-20% of what I used to! Ah well, one sacrifices for one's art.

What Dhurin says in the initial posting here pretty much sums up the discussion.
Mr. Beyreuther plays with a console - according to this discussion - simply because he has so few time to play at all. It's much more simple to "fire up" a console game than a PC game.

Yes, people think I am crazy that I play these games that take weeks to finish.
