Regular news and forum contributor Alrik Fassbauer writes in to inform us that the long awaited rpg Drakensang-The Dark Eye has officially gone GOLD. Here's two links to the information, though they are in German. If anyone can offer a translation, we'll post it:

Not yet, because it isn't even translated yet.

Translation will begin now.

They wanted to make sure that the game becomes completed before.

Aaaaaah, the agony. Play it when it comes out or wait for one or two patches?

But one thing's for sure: I'll go get some Peach Ice Tea, potato chips and candle light, and lock myself in my room for some retro style late night gaming sessions, hopefully inducing some sweet Realms of Arkania nostalgia in the process.

My preview beta was quite stable. I had some crashes to desktop, mostly when I changed maps and had played for a while. During the game I didn't have any extremely annoying problems.

@translation: The official english title is Drakensang: The Dark Eye (Name of the ruleset behind the title)

I would've put it vice versa : The franchise name first, THEN the "Episode" ...

Like "Star Wars : The Phantom Menace".

I know, but that's the official name.

ANACONDA will release Drakensang: The Dark Eye in the 4th quarter of 2007.

Marketing considerations. The Dark Eye has no brand value outside DACH. Drakensang on the other hand can be pronounced* in many countries and sounds both exotic and at the same time familiar enough.

* Drakensang is one of the rare cases in which the typically rather aggressive German pronounciation is actually much softer than the English translation:
Drak is pronounced like dark, just with the middle letters exchanged. The a is long.
sang like sung, but with a soft s.

I´m also a huge B5 fan, but I wasn´t sure how the Draakh are pronounced in the original version. ;)
