Good to see a Guild 2 title. I enjoyed the first one, and Venice sounds like a nice setting.

I wish they didn't bother with a G3 expansion at all and just get right to G4. So much of G3 is broken (combat, audio, clipping) that an expansion seems like a waste of time.

Gothic 4 is under development as well. The add-on is meant merely as a bridge between 3 and 4.

Indeed, otherwise the story wouldn't make sense or so they say.

Gothic 3 had (and still has) huge amount of potential. The world, for example, is maybe one of the most authentic, most beautiful and most interesting. There was actually moments in Gothic 3, when I just have to stop and look around. It's a place where I would want to spend my retirement days. :D

After the newest patch, only thing that buggers me is the melee combat, and only because it's far too easy. I think the best feature in add-on will be definately the improved combat.

I know its under development, but it will still take longer for it to be released because of the expansion. I got a lot of enjoyment out of Gothic 3, but even patched, there were too many frustrations, and my chosen ending crashed every time. Kind of sullied the whole experience for me. Who knows, maybe the new developer can right the wrongs while keeping the best parts intact.

Why will it take longer?

The new IP from PB will be published by Koch/Deep Silver, not JoWooD. And Koch/Deep Silver will be showing a trailer of PB's new project plus there will be an extensive Q&A session with several members of the dev team at the show where just about any and all questions will be answered (PB said on their forums that they will attempt to keep the "no comment" ratio way down low).

As for the G3 add-on: It's most likely going to be standalone and based on an entirely different engine than the original game (let's face it: Genome is/was so broken that even PB themselves refused to use it for their next project ;) ) so any hopes that the original game will be fixed/repaired/overhauled via the add-on will most likely not materialize. G3 and Forsaken Gods will almost certainly be like two totally different games with only a common theme and content, i.e. the Gothic background, setting, world, characters etc. but otherwise they're going to be two standalone games.

A recent interview by Avantenor revealed that Dr. Stefan Blanck of Chromatrix, the current holders of the TDE license for computer games (which they kind of forwarded to Radon Labs) is currently involved in the Gothic game by Spellbound, too.

Gothic 3 was released the same year as NWN2 and Oblivion, and it's actually the game I enjoyed the most. It's a shame that it took a such huge effort to play it. I even ran multiple community tools to keep my savefiles from dying.

And I really loved the twist... I had not expected that at all, but it made the game so much more rewarding... If it fits your perspectives that is, else you might not get it or even get offended.

Wrong, is a standalone expansion, the patch version 1.7 is on work right now, going to be released before the expansion come out, but like i say, the expansion don't need the original game, soo don't fix it.

With patch 1.6 the game run awesome stable, thanks for the community effort and spellbound studios, also the patch 1.7 is on work and will fix LOT more stuff and add new good stuff to the game.

If someone around got a new computer and want play a awesome game, a good rpg, just download the patch 1.6, remove the dust to the gothic 3 on the shelve and play it, because is really stable and is weird found a bug in the present.

I was one of those who buy the game on 2006 and cant play it because the engine ask for too much computer, right now i got a phenom 9850, 2 gb ram and ATI 4870 and the game run awesome.

I have the game running again, but I can't call it stable. Before the latest patch I never had the bug of Gorn and Milten having to walk to their place -> I mean that Milten gets killed by the orcs near the capital because he walks to the Monastery instead of getting placed there. Not very funny because I can't play the Innos side now.

I still consider Gothic 3 an amazing game. Always did. Replayed it many times because of the unique atmosphere. However, I understand that the bugs and technical issues are too much for some to handle.

I am looking forward to both G3: Addon and G4, but not as much as PBs new project. PBs new project is, quite possibly, the game I am looking forward to the most.

I liked Gothic 3, but I doubt anyone would argue that it wasn't the weakest entry so far - tech issues and bugginess and stability aside. I hope they deal with that stuff in the expansion as well.
