The character profiles seems to be surrounded by a thin black line, separating them from their surrounding and giving the image an unrealistic comic like appearance, as if the NPCs / PCs were cut out of some coloring page for small children and then glued to the image containing the background.

Does anyone else have the same impression?

I fail to see how this is different than something like Mage Knight Apocalypse ... ?

It's obvious that they are going for a comic book type effect, which I like.

I fail to see how this has anything to do with Mage Knight Apocalypse. As far as I recall, I did not write that this is the first time such an effect was used.

I would not presume that everyone shares my taste and the effect might well add some unique style to the game. Unique, of course, only when disregarding the widely popular and highly praised game Mage Knight Apocalypse.

....only when disregarding the widely popular and highly praised game Mage Knight Apocalypse.

Now THATS funny.

I will say this game looks like it just might lack the suck you'll find in Mage Knight. ;)

I'll just assume that is sarcasm and move along ... ;)
