View Full Version : Calling all NFG members
Cm

Ok it seems the NFG has been turned into a forum and they would have to have a list of all who should have access to it.
I for one would vote to simply close it with dignity. But I won't make the decision alone. Email me, pm me, post here, whatever works. Majority rules.

Well, I think we should close it with dignity. I'm sad to see it go, but it would never be the same there again!!

Terminate it with extreme prejudi ... um ... dignity ;)

Ok, I will hold off for a few days. I will take one last look for anything to save. If anyone thinks of anything let me know. Give any others a chance to see this as well. :(

I dont see the point in keeping myself the member of a forum which I dont visit anymore.

No but the NFG has always been run by discussion, so should her death.

I'd like to see fun threads like the Daily Smile survive and some of Badgers stuff!!

Close it. <_<

I am a member, although I stopped visiting RPGDot quite a while ago, only posted there recently due to Gothic 3.

Close it. Jaz has already removed me from Guardians and Mods groups over there and so I would vote for leaving NFG members group as well and closing is actually the best way I can think of...

It's important that this new site runs on it's own steam and be self sufficient. Cut the umbilical cord of memories and let the now alien craft of the dot drift away into space. The world is young and we must go boldly forward....so hoist the mainsail, fasten down the hatches, face the storm and lash the pilot to the wheel, steer a course to the horizon and face whatever comes our way. :D

yeah - lets move on -
the NFG was fun - but it was the beginning of the long death of RPGdot, too.
All the best postings could only be read in the NFG - a relative small group of people.
I think we should not make the same mistake on this board, a small number
of public groups is enough. So we get, what we all like:
A living board with interesting and fun postings.

Very well said - when we have the trafic problems of 1000's of posts per day perhaps we can revisit this ...

Well, I will tell them to delete it soon. I will go ahead and maybe do a cut and paste on a few of the daily smiles and post them here over time. Giving credit to the one who first posted it. ;)

What's NFG ?
Cm
November 14th, 2006, 22:12
On the other boards it was a usergroup called Nonflamers Guild, thus NFG. Sorry, I realize this didn't make sense to everyone, but it was a fast way to get feedback.

What's NFG ?
No Freakin' Gravy - overheard at a restaurant.
... no, that isn't it ...
Neatly Folded Garments - OCD laundry service
... no, that isn't it ...
oh, I give up ... and I see that the cleverly-named CM has told you anyway :)

Hi all!
New filter system installed at work ... so I visited ... the .... 'other place' ... and yes the NFG is now gone. *sniff*
Got DTE's note telling me of this place awhile ago, but have been buried in work, divorce (ugly), and WoW. Between those I've not really had time for chatting ... and anyway I spend a lot of time gabbing with WoW guild members - so that makes up for it! Before you ask - a very small guild devoted to trying to get other guild members to die because they are too busy laughing to note their health bars diving towards zero *grin*
How has everyone been?

Hi!
Yep, my work firewall has noticed RPGWatch as well ... makes it a pain ...

LINTRA!!! o_o A pleasant surprise indeed!

Glad you can log on again, not sure if we should forgive you for not posting because of WoW however. lol

Welcome back Lintra (is "back" the right word?).
Lintra
November 16th, 2006, 14:22
Thanks for the warm welcome all!
Mostly my non visiting is due to a filter at work ... now replaced by a less user friendly, but also less restrictive, one.
@Corwin - Yep #2. The most recent addition to the list of former wives (* please let this be that last one - I can't afford any more! *) joined that exclusive club in a particullarly painful way. Lets just say that if Bermuda were Iran she'd be under a few tons of stones right now. Big stones.
*sigh* Six more years of my life wasted. The good news is the following set of statistics compiled in the US during the 1990's (has not been updated): 50% of first marriages end in divorce, 70% of second marriages, but on 30% of third marriages. Not really an indicator for individual behavior, but certainly a straw to grasp to should I ever suffer a temporary mental lapse and risk my sanity a third time.
Anyway on to cheerier topics .... Hmmm ... come to think of it I think I'll try starting a new thread and try out this interface.

Hey, hey, the gang's all here! Well, mostly. If Pinnen, OhBrandi and DzD (and several others, now that I think about it) pop up, we'll have a hell of a party.
To the topic, I'm afraid the NFG should die. Feels like we're burning down our house, but ya gotta move on. Cue the Talking Heads, eh?

If we get some nice thread where we can spam again (how was it called: it was something like one should make a post with just one word and another one posts the word that comes in mind after the previous post.) I will call this the NFG forum.
And Lintra: Good to see you back, sorry to hear about the divorce. I hope Pinnen will be here soon too. You two in action was always fun to read.

You mean because they tend to be resource hogs because of how fast the pages fly by?
Lintra
November 17th, 2006, 15:40
I agree with Corwin. It is an artificial post count increaser that sucks up tons of storage space with out really adding much. Some times it was funny ... but mostly just long. And certainly not worth re-reading!
Arma
November 17th, 2006, 16:47
And on the other hand, it can be closed and reopened on reqular intervals (maybe when it is 10 or so pages long) as to save up resourses and so on.

OT is Kalia's forum, but still, thanks for the offer, Cm - I'll keep it in mind :). I'm just spending most of my forums time here as I have no new CRPGs I could write about... and after what JoWooD did I wonder if I should buy G3 at all.

Keeps working together with RPGDot instead of us?
At least I still don't see any link at the official page of Gothic 3 that refers to this site.
Jaz
November 19th, 2006, 00:31
Ah no, that's not what I meant. I wrote to PB quite some time ago about this place, but, hey, they're busy. Never mind.
Anyway, Corwin repeatedly told me that I was the OT forums mod until I believed it myself ^_^. I even managed to convince Kalia...

Sounds like a good idea, go for it. It would be too obvious for staff members to try that!! :)

Some sites actually promote or invite to "send us your links" - in itself a good communication gesture as it reaps access/viewing counts in more than one direction. ;)
