Eldric's staff: Do i need it ?

i'm past the red barrier, freed dork: do i need eldric's staff for any reason ? (i don't have it). thanks

It's not an important item. You might have accidently picked it up though. It's in one of the small gnome camps between Eldric and the temple. You have certainly already killed them.

Eldric will give you an 'amulet of power' (str+5/dex+5) for returning his staff.
