X3: Terran Conflict is the main game. Albion Prelude is more of a "bridge" game between X3 and the X:Rebirth universe. I got Prelude done in about 40 hours. What's more, it builds on the story in TC so you'll get hit with quite a few spoilers playing it.

X3:TC has the 'Terran Conflict' quest line (a rather jumbled one, really - I think it's mostly there as an advanced tutorial) which then leads to another quest line where you seek out a new group of sectors. Once you get that second quest line done, I think it's safe to play Albion Prelude.

Oh - and since you did play Reunion a lot, you might want to consider the DDTC mod. It has some rather interesting ships - particularly the non-aligned ships: http://www.xforum.chaos.net.nz/viewforum.php?f=35

Unfortunately, for whatever weird reason it would slowly grind my game down to a crawl. It seemed to work nicely for everyone else, though.

Hey Zloth, this is off topic but I have a question for you.
I'm a huge X fan but I have a lot of catching up to do since for some years I haven't been able to play games. The last one I've played was X3: Reunion and I absolutely love it.
My problem is: I have Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude here. I'll soon start playing but is it worth to play both? I don't want to start my empire all over again. I mean, is Albion Prelude an enhanced Terran Conflict or are they essentially different? Should I skip Terran Conflict?
