The Witcher 2 - Preview @ Games Radar

Omega points out this preview of The Witcher 2 at Games Radar. A sample:

That you could make decisions at an early point in the game that changed the way things happened much later, but not always in an obvious way, was one of the major selling points of the original. This time around, there’ll be more decisions and the consequences will run much deeper. Some places will be dramatically different depending on the choices you make earlier on.

Those choices will also be made more interesting for us Anglophiles by the mere fact our language is being used as the primary language in the game. While it might rightly annoy Polish speakers to see a game from their country made in English, the consolation for us is that we won’t be getting the substandard translation the original Witcher suffered from on release (and was corrected in the Enhanced Edition).
More information.

I can't wait.

Interesting
I don't know about the language issue , since i am not a native English speaker W1's language was very spicy and dialogues did make sense to me so game primarily made in English may water it down for international audience .

"pornographic sex cards"? i bet this guy considers Botticelli to be a pornographer too.

Does this mean that the translation into the Polish language will become "substandard" ?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Or : Either way you do it, you might do it wrong.

The bottom line of this is that they are concentrating more on the international markt than on the national market with this release.

It's like what I hd wriitten earlier somewhere . Game productions become so huge in terms of costs that they MUST go international - because ONLY THEN they get the change to get the horrendous costs back in.

And the profiteers from that are people with English as the native and second language, essentially.

Countries like France, which still concentrate on their own language might suffer from all of these approaches. In the end, this kind of concentrating on English-language releases for the international market is undermining and essentially eroding national languages.

At least it gives us non-native english speakers the advantage of being able to use another language fluently enough.

I like your "before this comes out" clarification which signifies that hey will go bankrupt and it's only a matter of time.

Possibly true, but I thought it was kind of funny in a depressing way.

Most probably not, considering that CD Projekt publishes the game in Poland and they'll be very very careful about the polish translation, not to mention that it will be probably done in-house.
