Spiderweb has announced beta testing has kicked off for Avadon (on the Mac) and to celebrate, they've released two new screens.

looking forward to this one. looking like Baldurs Gate in a way.

Liking how this game is looking/progressing…in the mood for a retro RPG experience so this is perfect. :)

Might have to pick this one up as well. Graphics are more than acceptable, just hope the UI is a little more friendly.

edit: it seems the mechanics are exactly the same as previous games. Just wish the game was more drag and drop and allow more world interaction (like U7).

How did you get that the mechanics are "exactly the same"? I can't disagree with the idea of more interaction but the mechanics are coonsiderably different.

Cautiously optimistic. Could be good, but hopefully it's not just another remake of the Avernum games, which I just could never get into past six hours or so.

I'm hoping it's more streamlined and less padded out with filler. We'll see.

Looks nice. I have no idea why people compare it to Baldur's Gate, as I really can't see the similarities beyond the fact that both are 2D fantasy games. The art style, the interface, the tactical grid and so on is all very different.
