Borderlands 2 - Video Review @ AlloySeven
A video review of Borderlands 2 is to be found at AlloySeven. They have divided the world of RPG players up in to 10 different types and give advice to each type of player on whether this game will suit them or not.
Here is the overview of those who will enjoy it accorind to AlloySeven: Quote:

Interesting approach to the review, after all players with different interests will enjoy different aspects of a game
However, seems a bit odd they don't consider role players to be a significant subset of people who play role playing games. |

I'd first like to thank you for your feedback. Our team more than welcomes it. As our system is still new, there are bound to be omissions at this early stage and changes we'll make as we evolve the system. In the case of Role Players, our pannel did discuss it. Our initial thought was that so many games require you to play the role of another character or as yourself. Hence, most gamers would essentially be role players. We instead chose to focus on the psychology and tendencies of gamers that would include folks that enjoy Role Playing games. I agreed with the stance at this stage. Keep in mind that I am also a HUGE RPG fan and definitely did not intend to leave anyone out. If you have any further thoughts or counter-points to our stance, I would love to hear them. Thanks again for checking out our review! B |
Aren't there a lot of folks who play RPGs more for the action or collecting loot, etc., that don't really get into role playing their characters?
I haven't played Borderlands 2 yet, but that was one of the things that detracted a bit from the first game IMO. The co-op feature can be fun, but I might be playing a certain kind of character who wants to talk to all the people in a village and find out what is going on, etc., and sometimes the random people who drop in to co-op would be just not into that type of gameplay at all. |

I just noticed that the original post from Myrthos stated "They have divided the world of RPG players up in to 10 different types"
Allow me to clarify. We haven't only broken down RPG players into categories, we've created categories that we believe capture all gamers' unique play-style preferences. If you think of it in terms of RPG players only it may be a bit confusing. Here is the breakdown for how our review system works. Sorry for any confusion. |
The way you break down the categories is fantastic. Good work B. Chambers!
