Akalabeth released for iPhone

While searching for info on Ultima I and II's source code I came across this:

Akalabeth (aka Ultima 0) has been ported to the iPhone.

It does make me wonder about ownership. It has Garriot's consent but the original copyright is held by Garriot and (the now defunct) California Pacific Games. Garriot re-released it as Ultima 0 as part of the Ultima Collection around the time of Ultima 9. Ultima is owned by EA of course.

A retina display can't make it stop hurting my eyes.

Good question about ownership though.

It was ugly even then - pretty hard to play too - but it was a level everyone aspired to. It started off as a rebuild from scratch of DnD but he wanted to put "3D" dungeons in it.

I do like the Apple ][+ simulated buttons.

It also makes you think that more porting might be possible.

Ehm….. no thanks.
