The Banner Saga - Beta Open for Non-Backers

The beta of The Banner Saga Factions was already open to all backers, but is now also open for non-backers of the Kickstarter campaign, if you pay for it.
If you mised the Kickstarter campaign you can still join for $15. You apparently get a steam key for Factions, you can play now, and for the complete game, which will take some time before you can play it.
More information.

nah, I'm interested in the campaign and story. The beta is just the combat module.

So they want us to pay $15 for a combat demo? Hmm… no thanks.

Well, just wait then, Factions will be a free game. As I understand they charge for the beta access basically because KS backers paid for it as well.

KS backers paid $10 for the beta and the full SP games. Here, they ask $15 for beta access of what will be a F2P games in a few weeks.

Certainly makes them look very greedy. Not a good sign.

Yes, but Kickstarters assumed the financing risk in advance and get a reward. If everyone gets free beta access, it isn't much of a reward, is it?

Beta have always been free, if one asked for $ it's because you were pre-ordering the final games in advance and you were paying early to get beta. Here, they are asking $15 to access the beta of a F2P games. You don't get to pre-order anything.
