The BioWare Veterans Who Dared
Came across this little post on Eurogamer. The interview discusses the difficulties of remastering their old work.
It also tells of the atmosphere at BioWare during the development of the original, their work on squashing the numerous bugs. At the end it tells of the chances of working on Baldur's Gate III and why it probably won't be a continuation of the saga if it ever happens. Quote:
Still looks like we will be seeing more infinity engine games after they wrap up Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced. They mentioned the possibility before if any of you remember. Link-http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20…rans-who-dared |
I'll be perfectly honest here: While Wizards have come up with some brilliant stuff over the years, the company itself seems to shoot itself in the foot quite often, especially regarding computer games. They killed off the Planescape franchise, they keep selling their licenses to publishers/developers who doesn't have a clue what to do with it and they keep making weird adjustments that are supposed to make computer RPGs better, but in reality just water down the rules as a whole.
That being said, they do get it right from time to time. Their cooperation with old Interplay (Black Isle/BioWare) gave us some of the best games ever, and the NWN series was pretty good too. It seems most of their bad calls have been made recently, though I have no idea what is causing it. |
