Van Helsing - Thaumaturge DLC Released

The Thaumaturge DLC for The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing that I mentioned last week is now available on Steam.

You must be familiar with the traditional approach to monster hunting: grab a melee weapon, take a firearm (just to make sure), prepare your tricks and witness those creatures flee in terror! But there are other, somewhat unusual methods that rely on a quite different source which is called magic.

What if you could turn the esteemed Van Helsing into a totally different kind of monster hunter? Van Helsing: Thaumaturge DLC now allows you to play a specialist class that will surely spice up your gaming experience. The Thaumaturge is the master of the occult hunting traditions, an expert on the rare mystical arts. Forget the steel blades and those rude guns, and use purely your stunning arcane abilities.

Key features
a brand new character class, the magic-wielding Thaumaturge
a new skill tree, new equipment and unique traits
brand new tactics and game mechanics to support the new class
3 new quest lines in the single player campaign
2 brand new maps

More information.

Yes and we got a new 700Mb patch on Steam which strangled my connection and I lost the LoL fight because of the lag it caused!

The patch includes more stuff in the base game (one of devs said on steam forums) so it's okay I guess, but I still won't buy DLC.

Insta bought. Van Helsing is one of the best values in gaming ever, and there is a good amount of additions here for a $3.99 addon. Now they need to do a real expansion pack. Fantastic game.

They do its called The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II, and a third one after that. The game was designed as three separate games to complete it.

I've had it with van Helsing - played for 20 hours so far, and I now can't stand the sight of the game. It's become very dull…mostly end up using the same powers and tactics, I think I'm just no longer able to enjoy this kind of mindless mayhem. In fact, pretty much all the click-fest games I've tried, I've just abandoned after some play. The thought of a van Helsing 2 makes me light-headed…although that could also be the flu I have :/ I suppose if you have time to kill and nothing substantial to play, repeatedly clicking the mouse can be fun for a bit… I was very sad to hear that Original Sin was delayed, everything else I've touched has been a filler until that arrived .. oh well.

Play DKS again, Booboo! DKS is a click-fest too, but the clicking is broken up better with well written dialogue and pretty good voice acting.

I much preferred DKS - may play it again, I think they released some expansions etc that helped with the later part of the game? I think clicky games are fun if you have friends who enjoy playing, but I am always looking for good solo experiences, with some semblance of a story, interesting character progression system, more tactical combat etc. I Think story and mechanics probably interest me most though, so I'm probably not the demographic (old-er and grumpy ;) that they're aiming at ;-)

Yes, Flames of Vengeance gives a much more satisfying end to the second divinity game. They give away way too much loot in that part, but the story makes up for it. I believe you get the anthology fairly cheap nowadays; but not sure what it goes for in South Africa.

Too bad they never achieved a Mac version. I wonder if I'll still remember the game when I'll switch back to Windows.

@ crpgnut - thanks for the suggestion. I just checked, dev cut version seems to be ~$20 for both versions. I will probably pick it up when the price drops a bit more since I won't get around to playing it for awhile anyway.
