Obsidian Entertainment - Feargus Urquhart Interview
How does Feargus Urquhart see the Western RPG industry in 2009? That's the background question to a new interview at Gamasutra. It waffles around to me without really saying much - here's a sample:

Thanks dhruin, and definetly a good sample. This looks as praising Bethesda just because Obsidian got another Fallout job. Yea, Bethesda did an "incredible job" - they've obviously bought Feargus himself!
Yuck! |
Well he could hardly say that he thought they were terrible and that Fallout 3 was shade of the originals. I think he quite cleverly praised two things that Beth did actually do very well.

So sad! Being forced to say good things on Fallout3….

It's a no brainer that he cannot be illoyal to the one paying the bills. This doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't believe the things he said though.
|
Agreed. My comments were meant to be a slam; I just felt he wandered around and gave nebulous answers.
|
He obviously avoided the question and talked about things they did right. I think this probably means Fallout: New Vegas is taking a different direction then Bethesda's Fallout 3 and going more towards the original games.
