I've never found an MMO that I could enjoy for long enough to make it work. Secret World had a great concept and atmosphere, but I'm in the crowd that thinks it would have been much better as a…

I've finished my revisit of Jedi Knight 2. It's undoubtedly much more of a modern game, but the controls feel very sloppy, like Kyle keeps getting greased up off-camera to slide around so much. The…

As part of the Capcom sale, Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is really cheap. It's an arcade beat-'em-up version of classic Basic D&D, and actually does a pretty good job of capturing the…

Someone was working on a more modern engine for Dark Forces, but every time I've looked over the last few years it's been at the same point. Someone was also working on recreating it in Jedi…

Ah, that's the bunny. I got the music, but I had that even before I applied the fix, so maybe GOG sorted it out. I may give MotS a quick try while I'm used to JK, just to see how my memory holds up.

Well, I've finished Jedi Knight. It holds up remarkably well for its age, but I still find the later levels a bit lacking. Still, only one of them, the escape from a crashing ship, is actually…

JK2's definitely in the old guard of FPS games, but it's got a lot of things that seemed to get lost over the next generation. I'm sure the change isn't quite as sudden as I remember looking back at…

Anyway, I'm still having loads of fun with Cities Skylines, and…

GOG puts a bit more effort into making them run well on modern systems than Steam does, so they probably focus their efforts on proper systems. ;)

In this game I'd lump the story/writing in with atmosphere. It's not just visual and aural. Bender's induction to vampirism alone is worth at least 5 bonus points.
