Gothic 2 had improved gameplay/controls with a much bigger world, while Gothic 1 had a far more interesting story and atmosphere (as far as I'm concerned). The Sleeper > Dragons.

I often play female characters by choice, usually on 2nd playthroughs. Vampire: Bloodlines, KotOR, BG, Fallout, NWN, etc. I've played TLJ and BGE and had no problems.
