I wouldn't recommend using the mouse at all. The game works best with keyboard only. I don't know if the Steam version allows macros, but the original PC version supports them. They are very useful….

Gothic 2 + NOTR was brutally hard, but that game let you save anywhere. That makes a huge difference. If there was a checkpoint/auto-save system in that game, then I would never have finished it.
