You can indeed pick up objects that your enemies have dropped (due to deadness) during the fight. If you're standing in the right spot and you go to [I]nventory, it's right there.

Tried it, didn't like it. The third-person "action" combat is atrocious, the cards not all all that interesting though the card art is very nice. Feels like a very well done console port.
