Game designers capable of creating classics think of ways to EVOLVE and go BEYOND the games that went before. I'm not talking about the size of explosions, by the way.

I absolutely agree with you're viewpoint in a perfect world, however up until now developers have not been able to even imitate the variously intermeshed and effective gameplay of Deus Ex1 at all, period. SO until someone can puth forth the seemingly massive amount of imagination and work required to replicate Deus Ex1, I don't see how an evolved form of that game can be produced.

To sum it up, I feel our space program ended up like this. "It's one small step for man. One giant leap for man kind. Oops I fell on my butt after that leap and can't get up anymore."
