Well, Dragon Commander takes place even earlier in the settingīs timeline and, afaict, thereīs a very strong tech/steampunk element.
Maybe the tech just vanished for some time in some cataclysm or something.
(but itīs probably more likely that Larian werenīt giving much fucks about "bigger picture", at least until now)
