It was ugly even then - pretty hard to play too - but it was a level everyone aspired to. It started off as a rebuild from scratch of DnD but he wanted to put "3D" dungeons in it.
I do like the Apple ][+ simulated buttons.
It also makes you think that more porting might be possible.
