why can't anyone just put on a pair of size 8 blue canvas or whatever? This would have tame their materialistic urge, "I'm better than you" tendency. The industry would know exactly the QTY of raw mat, labor…etc. No waste of any resource. All these would contribute to their medium rare achievements, no envy……a peaceful world.

Seriously, kick the fed gov out of it one step at a time by introducing market competition, the same way now we have the best cell phones.
