I liked 2, but I definitely felt it was one step forward graphically, and two steps back content-wise.
I liked TW1 more, it felt like TW2 didn't have the 'soul' that the first had. I remember reading the lore for every little thing in TW1, getting immersed into the world was so easy, and the atmosphere was fantastic. All in all I felt that everything apart from the graphics was dumbed down for The Witcher II, but I guess not many people feel the same way — so I don't expect anything to change.
