Right click on an enemy and press the hotkey assigned to your eldritch blast of choice five or six times. Repeat this for every enemy in sight, and you can ignore your warlock for the rest of the battle. You can't set his eldritch blast as his default attack, so front-loading his actions like this goes a long way toward making the class bearable to play.
