PJ, you don't seem to have read the article but O.K. there is no obligation for you to do so.

Conventional CRPG writing has its root in text-adventure games and it used to fit 2D graphics nicely. Despite of nostalgia, however, considering the current 3D presentation in games, I cannot but wonder which is faster : veteran game-writers will adapt themselves to the modern games or talents from Hollywood will do so. The technology is evolving fast in this industry and a formula that worked in the past won't work in newer format.

The cruel reality is that the players can play in the actual presentation and not the concept of the designers, or what they intended to present.
