Say 1996 and before, else it will be a forum for Fallout and Baldur's Gate.

I don't know. :)

But the '96 was just a suggestion. Personally I think 90-95 was something out of a golden era for games in general. There aren't that many games from the 80'ies worth playing today even if there are some. There are very few games from 96-97 I can mention that is worth going back to, mostly because of the CD/3d experimental era in which far too many crap titles was released.

Ok i changed it but still lol whos the forum mod btw?
That's something decided at the Admin level. I'm sure they're aware of your request. I don't see why General RPG doesn't already fit the bill, though.

One word for those that say there was nothing good in the '80's: Ultima. 1-5 were 80's titles. As was Wizardry 1-5, all three Bard's Tale games, all three Phantasie games, Might and Magic 1 and 2, and at least 3 or 4 of the gold box games.

I could add in some non-RPGs as well, with ease. ;)

I think General RPG would be the right forum; while my favorite gaming years were the mid-to-late nineties and I agree that the 'classic' games are historically important, I doubt a special forum just for them would generate enough traffic to warrant its creation. But perhaps others think otherwise.
And I loved Arena, btw.

But are those 80'ies games still enjoyable, or is it just nostalgia?

Well, I play several of them every year, even if I don't always complete them. So yes, for me they just as enjoyable.

For the first time?

The 80'ies games I enjoy to play have mostly been replays of games I already played back then. It's rare that I find one that I enjoy, mostly because the hardware wasn't good enough to deliver a story. Sierra's adventuregames are enjoyable for me still but I finished all of the 80'ies ones.

To be honest, while I love the games, I don't think there would be enough traffic to warrant a special forum.
