Skyrim > Witcher 2 for stealth/ranged combat.
Witcher 2 > Skyrim for melee combat.

Magic? It's a tie, I suppose.

Agreed. Skyrim may do certain things better than Witcher 2 but melee combat is DEFINITELY not one of them

So no potions during combat makes it a tie?
No illusion school makes it a tie?

Not buying it…

EDIT: Also I don't see how a rolling constantly to win melee fights makes W2 combat better. I like using the environment, and dodging in and out of cover, different elevations, and a bit of kiting, sure, and I can do this in Skyrim. But rolling around constantly to be able to win in artificial forced cramped quarters is not my idea of "better".

Gothic 2 was the sweet spot of a 'modern' open world RPGs for me. Size really doesn't matter if there's sod all novelty in it. I hate to pick at old scabs... but vanilla Oblivion is the worst offender in that regard. Two Worlds 2 is a close second. Miles of meaningless terrain and endless random spawns is a single player MMORPG. And the only thing I want to play less than a MMORPG is a JRPG.
