Political and politically incorrect humor

Perhaps they just didn't want to be rude?
Actually, Alrik has put his finger on the nitty gritty there. After this poor woman gave her testimony in front of a committee considering a bill to make implanting said microchips illegal, they heard her story, "no one laughed" and they approved the bill. Here's the relevant quote:
The Georgia House Judiciary Committee took up a bill last week that would "prohibit requiring a person to be implanted with a microchip," and would make violating the ban a misdemeanor. According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one exchange from the hearing could have been ripped right from Dr. Strangelove....Willard thanked the woman for her input, and the committee later approved the bill.
So who's really bringing the crazy in this story? :wall:

Oh, that one. Nah, too long. I have a very short attention span when it comes to video. Like, about 1 minute 45 seconds.

You talk too much.

People actually believe this 666 stuff? That's scary.

Pushed through by a Republican representative. Big surprise there... With bozos like this taking the spotlight, the GOP has its work cut out for it.

Well, since Corwin's required to read it all...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

OR

Towards the end of a sultry afternoon early in July a young man came out of his little room in Stolyarny Lane and turned slowly and somewhat irresolutely in the direction of Kamenny Bridge.

Indeed. The only book I ever punted on during my school years. I was going to write a research paper on it for advanced composition and I had to beg for permission to switch books. What a painfully crappy encyclopedia...

This is actually not funny, or only funny in a "Through the Looking Glass' bizarro world way, but I thought there might be some humor for some of the regulars in me actually agreeing with Glenn Beck—I know— Stop the world and let me off! Serious serious crazy, but there it is:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/04/faisal-shahzad-arrest-bec_n_562467.html
On how terrible it would be if the NYC SUV suspect had his Miranda rights read to him:
That both McCain and King would so quickly condemn the idea of reading Miranda rights is a reflection of just how far the Republican Party has moved away from a basic element of law enforcement (used often by, among others, the Bush administration's Department of Justice). The suspect, after all, is an American citizen. And in an unexpected moment of dissension, the two lawmakers found themselves on the opposite end of the argument from no less a conservative voice than Beck.

"He is a citizen of the United States, so I say we uphold the laws and the Constitution on citizens," the …Fox News host said to the stunned co-hosts of "Fox and Friends". "If you are a citizen, you obey the law and follow the Constitution. [Shahzad] has all the rights under the Constitution. We don't shred the Constitution when it is popular," Beck added. "We do the right thing."
I guess even Beck can have a moment of clarity from time to time. God it hurts to say that. :puke:

Edit: on reflection, this has to be a simple aberration. No one can eradicate the amount of crazy Beck displays with one sentence of sanity. phew--for a moment there, my entire belief system was crumbling...

I believe that is a case of blind chicken finding a grain.

In my line of work we dismiss such stuff as outliers or noise.:p

Thanks for the reassurance. :)

Okay, I'm posting this as humor because frankly I could care less about how and who with people spend their bedroom time, but as both a fan of irony and critic of hypocrisy, especially when combined at this order of magnitude, I can't ignore this one:
Anti-Gay Leader Caught with Male Prostitute(Talking Points Memo
When George Alan Rekers, a cofounder along with James Dobson of the Family Research Council…was caught walking off a plane from Europe with a young male prostitute, he first insisted that he didn't know the young man was an escort until halfway through their 10-day vacation.

"I had surgery," Rekers told the Miami New Times, which broke the story yesterday, "and I can't lift luggage. That's why I hired him."

Rekers had hired the escort, dubbed "Lucien" by the New Times, through the website RentBoy.com (NSFW), a popular site that hosts ads for gay male escorts. There's little mistaking what the site is for.
Deciding that the luggage line wasn't quite cutting it, he then switched to the Jesus line:
But he later told another blogger that he was simply trying to save his friend by "lovingly" sharing the message of Jesus, as he had done with other "sexual sinners."
Actually, I guess this would all be more humorous if it wasn't so sad.

I find it funny and telling. Many of these outspoken homophobes are afraid of their own homo tendencies and try desperately to hide behind hate talk. He obviously failed his hide skill roll. ;)

This strip was published in Finland's big daily the day before yesterday, and it caused a bit of a flap:

1135256556217.gif

The label says "Free Range Jew Soap."

What d'you think, is this beyond the pale?

I read it as a comment on people like me who are concerned about animal welfare and salve their conscience by buying free-range eggs and biologically farmed meat and what not. Am I really just like the Nazi taking care to buy free-range Jew soap? Or am I reading too much into a strip that was just a joke in poor taste? You decide...

PS. Today he was poking fun at the Taliban, so he's something of an equal-opportunity offender. Other regular visitors in his strip include Field Marshal Mannerheim, Hitler, and the Pope. Just to give you an idea...
