Pain in the …. lower back.
Everybody has it now and then, and so does pibbur. But now there is a reason for it:
Spinal Stenosis.
His vertebral canal is significantly narrowed, and by significantly he (and the doctors having seen the MRI's) means
significantly. Fortunately the damage is below the spinal cord, but there is a bunch of nerves passing downwards (the so called horse tail, or cauda equina in latin). And those nerves aren't happy, they've gone partially on strike, especially the lefties. So there's numbness in the left foot (observe that pibbur is from Bergen@Norway, and when people from Bergen@Norway talk about the foot, they either mean the foot OR the entire leg). Additionally, several muscles are affected which makes for a lot of fun whenever he decides to stand up. Sometimes also when walking.
He has been to the hospital for a preliminary exam, and the neuro surgeon said that an operation was very much in need, so they're going to slash open (they're not plastic surgeons, so loss of beauty is of minor concern) his lower back and do things to him (pibbur is fairly certain what those things are) while they're in there. Relatively soon. He hasn't got a date yet.
Oh, in these times when sharing images with everyone is what you're supposed to do, here's the significant part of the pibburian vertebral column as seen on a T2 weighted MRI image.
As you can see there's definitely something going on between the 3rd and the 4th lumbal vertebrae, and what's going on there has to be stopped (from going on), unless you want the affection to increase. Pibbur doesn't want that.
pibbur who is happy that 1) with spinal stenosis, in typical cases there's little or no pain when sitting. And 2) that pibbur is a very typical case.
