Today is ...

… is, …. is, ….. is

0217: Roman emperor Caracalla, "the common enemy of mankind" among friends, were killed for/while taking a leak. For a roman emperor he stayed fairly long in business (8 years, from 0209), while a number of people around him didn't. Notable examples of the latter are his younger brother Geta (d. 211), his Ex, his Ex in-laws, a bride-wannabe and the accompanying wedding guests, a cheering crowd outside Alexandria…. And a huuuge number of not-so notables in the provinces he visited. His motto was "always mind the soldiers and ignore everyone else"

BTW, said brother actually didn't exist according to emperor C, which is obvious from the family portrait given below, the non existing brother is the one not showing in the front row to the left (viewer's perspective).

Caracalla is also a character from Divinity 2 : Flames Of Vengeance
A ghost, to be specific ;)

Geta was murdered, by the way, and Caracalla is thought by historians to have given the order for it himself.

I'm currently reading a book (still) on "the Romans in Bavaria", and there his personal story is listed, too.

If you are interested in more info, then I can write a short summary here. ;)

Yepp, There were some strife between the brothers. After killing him, emperor C in a 1984-ish way wanted to erase him from history, hence the missing face on the family portrait.

Yepp, There were some strife between the brothers, co-emperors who both really wants to be just emperors don't go well together. After killing Geta, emperor C in a 1984-ish way wanted to erase him from history, hence the missing face on the family portrait and other places.

Is the Moe of 1964 related to the Three Stooges? :)

Only if their faces were yellow. Were they?

Says pibbur whose knowledge about said stooges is arbitrarily close to zero, and who assumes they are yet another example of weird Australian or American things and therefore refuses to look them up.
