The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

Superb, I even have the notes for it!
You better practice hard because it is a notoriously difficult piece :).

Changing the subject to real masterpieces, I went to see Tristan und Isolde yesterday. Unfortunately, it only lasted for a mere 5 hours until the gates of Heaven closed and we were kicked out and thrown down back to Earth :).

To my surprise, the Spanish prince and his wife were sitting a few meters away from me in the same theater balcony. I wonder why they weren't in the Royal balcony…perhaps they wanted to know what it feels like to be among the plebs :).

Anyway, here is a link to the famous prelude to Act 1.
(Don't worry, it is just a teeny tiny fraction of the work ;))

It is time for something completely different.

What do you all think of this undisputed masterpiece?

I am more of a fan of his 'prepared piano' works.

And I *love* Wagner's stuff. He used such a massive palette (he had an 'arms race' with orchestra size!), and had such a fantastic vision with his music that I always get swept up in it.

Just had a stroke of nostalgia, and started listening to this:

Amazing. I can remember running through the Colony at night time, fighting scavengers, running away from Shadowbeats, making friends in the Old Camp, amazing memories … What an awesome series … I wonder what Piranha Bytes are doing these days

God, I just realized, I've not had such an emotional tie with a game in a long time. You know that feeling that you forget things that are not so important, and remember things that are. Well playing Gothic must have been important, because I can pretty much remember all major points in that game. Such a beautiful experience. Oh, and I just remembered the Old Mine, and facing the minecrawlers. Amazing memories :)

I think I should listen more to The Alan Parson Project again … I had almost what is called an "nerdgasm" today : They are going to re-release all albums again - plus the rumored-about "Sicilian Defense" (an album about Chess) !
The Project had used this album as a kind of "weapon" against the record company, since both founders of the Projhect repeatedly called "The Sicilian Defense" a "piece of trash". It had always sounded to me so as if it had been consciously recorded in an lower quality (overall), to force the record company to do another move (hence the album's title). More on it (in terms of Chess) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicilian_Defence

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK3NMZAUKGw can't decide if i absolutely hate it or absolutely love it, thus i find it interesting to listen to. I usually turn it off before the end though, lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG2u1N8Ke-Y Makes me laugh and cringe and the same time. Reminds me of that gay dude in Silence of the Lambs. Absolutely awesome voice, talented as hell, a true artist that doesnt give a shit what people think or that he probably will never make a buck on music. He just does his weird thing, gotta love that.

Overall i'm so bored with music these days, trying to find something that somehow hits a nerve is really, really hard.

At first I thought about another video from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, then I figured I've seen a subliminal image of Gene Simmons, before realising that was only a pseudo Kabuki mask and another of these prepubescent girls band the Japanese seem to have an almost inexhaustible stock of. As far as it seems, the dancers are trained more and more younger though ! Is this a sign the stock is depleting faster than I thought ? The singer's a nice girl but still…

Weird and funny trip but according to the genre, I'll still prefer Iggy by a wide margin… :)

I agree with you but does that mean I'll go for the extreme, hoping to discover a gem in the mud ? Not a chance ;)

I've always prefered the mud, mainstream sucks, with some few exceptions ;)
