Gothic 3 - patch 1.12 still not ready

I. TECHNICAL BUGFIXES
==================

Build 1.12
---------
- Fixed ambient sound bug
- Sound occlusion improved
- Several physics and character movement bugs fixed
- Inventory exploit fixed
- Camera behaviour improved

II. CONTENT FIXES
==============

Build 1.12
---------
- Several mission logs fixed
- Several small quest bugs fixed

III. CHANGES/ADDITIONS
===================

Build 1.12
---------
- NPCs don\'t die as quickly as before when fighting monsters. This helps party members to survive
The fix list is not detailed enough to say if only a few issues were fixed. I wonder why PB doesn´t at least try to look good?
The fixed sound bug, the corrected sound volume, repaired quests and the stronger NPCs are major improvements IMHO.

Yeah it's getting a bit frustrating. I guess they wanted to fix more but in the end couldn't and so are releasing what they have.

I would see it positively. They´re probably closing down the studio over Christmas and they wanted to have a patch out before.

And we all read that neither of those fixes work. Oh, wait, that was the leaked patch. Maybe the real patch will fix the whole game and make Gothic 3 a pleasurable game...

Not.

It's still disappointing, Gorath. They need to state their intentions, even if they use vague language.
Agreed. Their patch policy and the communication related to it is hard to understand.

You must have read something else than me then. ;)
G3 already is a good game. Just not as good as we all hoped it would be.

Yes, Gorath, defender of PB...
PB should write a book "How to ruin a brand in 8 weeks"

Maybe I should learn from you how mindless bashing is done? ;)

Sure, they ruin the Gothic brand. But it´s their brand, they can ruin it in every way they want.

Tuning less perseverance loss with the Parieren impact dead nose fixed - that’s what I got from Babel fish... I guess that my confusion means that I am stupid, really though, what the hell is this referring to? Rosetta stone here I come...

I guess it means that after the patch you get a lower hit to your Endurance when you parry a blow.

Yep. That's it. And the 2nd one means that the 1-hit kill bug has been fixed.

We have discussed this a long time ago and I will not go down to meet your standards again. I have never done any mindless bashing at all to any game - period! And you will stop your comments accusinf me of this in the future!!!

exactly what combat needed!

I'll have to agree.

This and the modifications to NPC's vs Monsters actually make things a whole
lot better. i.e as a test I tried leading a Boar to a 3 person rebel camp. In my
old tests the boar managed to at least wound severely or even kill one of them
(yes, even after stunlock removal). The Rebels also had a "round robin" sort of
attacking, one attacking (or mostly staying frozen in front of) and the other
2 backing off etc.

Now the battle was much more fluid with all of them simultaneously attacking.
being on the move all the time and ending with the boar dead and the rebels
barely scratched.

After that I took on the cowardly goblins nearby to test the parry. It works
now making the combat more tactical and enjoyable. Unfortunately the crash
rate due to the mem leak remains the same... I wonder if setting Resource
cache to medium might help a bit... The weird thing though is that when It
crashes mem utilization is about 1,72 GB with at least 300 mb free !?

@JonNik

The Gothic 3 memory problem has something to do with the fact, that one windows application can only address 2GB under winxp 32.

You can hack an application to use 3GB by setting the LargeAddressAware (LAA) - bit.

Under winxp 32 you have to set the /3GB switch and /USERVA=2800 in the boot.ini file, too. Under winxp 64 there's no need to change the boot.ini.

I made a LAA-hack for Gothic 3, that is popular in Germany:

I assume you mean that G3 needs more than 2 GB total memory when this happens
(RAM + Pagefile) ?!

That would mean that me having 2GB Ram and having it crashing with
300 MB of that free means that the game tries to allocate more than that
when Loading ?

I d more likely place my bets on Bad implementation on their memory
management module But I'll most certainly try your solution (since I
assume you already had some success for recommending it).

Thanks.
