Dungeon Park Siege!
I like the sound of that
I like the sound of that
Seriously?
I was starting to have a glimmer of hope after hearing that Parker and Stone were doing the writing, but I was really hoping they would be using something better than the DS3 engine.
Obsidian will be using the Onyx engine for their next few games, according to a tweet from Chris Avellone some time ago.
I'm not familiar with DS3 gameplay, but it was also used for their abandoned Aliens RPG.
Chaos, I highly doubt it will be a failure, at least from a financial standpoint. The reason Obsidian said that this was a project they couldn't turn down is because they are aware of just how big South Park's following is. They have a nice-sized group of hardcore followers that never miss the show when it airs and a legion of more casual followers that will watch it when it happens to be on TV or when it is convenient for them. Plus, Matt and Trey are riding a wave of grammy nominations and numerous Tony awards from the Book of Mormon. I would say the game may not be a critical success, but I see very little stopping it from being a commercial success.
-There are five classes, which are wizard, paladin, adventurer, rogue, and a fifth unannounced class.
so their intentionally using generic classes…-The humor will be more focus on the games they have played in the past but Parker mentions that games have lampooned other games before so they don't want to do exactly that instead they are focusing more on RPG's on how big and bombastic they can get sometimes.
so multiple factions to work with, where working with one prevents doing quest from others (ie jocks, goths, cheerleaders, nerds, …)-The player will play as the new kid in town, the main theme of the game is fitting in and being accepted.
Turn-based combat, with no unskippable slow-motion kill animations-If player initiates combat they will attack first and vice versa.
-X button is for melee attacks, pressing it in well-timed succession will result in multiple hits.
-Obsidian doesn't want the player to have to sit and watch animations play out; they're incorporating dynamic camera angels at certain times, such as a Ro Sham Bo attack that stuns an enemy.
They're using the engine they built themselves and used in the least buggy of their games.Obsidian is using the Dungeon Siege III engine.
.-There is a Summon System but they are not able to talk about it
Oh, crap. I'm not going to touch this game.-Obsidian is using the Dungeon Siege III engine.
I was thinking that SP RPG could be a fresh experience - if nothing goes wrong, off course - but then I stumbled upon this:
Oh, crap. I'm not going to touch this game.
My carpal tunnel says no. And when your carpal tunnel is talking to you, no means NO.Why that?
I think when people complain about these game, they are complaining about the graphics and artistic style. I don't have a problem with Onyx engine's graphics or artistic style. I like it. But DS3 featured a poor and unnatural control scheme. PC gamers who use a mouse and keyboard to play DS3 (and Southpark, I suspect) are constantly at risk of damaging their own body -permanently- by playing a stupid button-masher.Gamebryo Bethesda style - urgh. Unreal 3 Bioware style - bah. Aurora gone Electron - don't get me even started.
