I'm wondering whether I should have a drop of it before trying to tidy up our capital model in a couple of months, it might help me to see the bigger picture too. Failing that it'd at least mean one day of work would go quickly.

Well, I understand that the people who designed the models that got us into this mess were not on anything, hard as it is to believe, so I guess it's worth a try...
