Obsidian Entertainment - Sawyer Blog Update

PJ, you don't seem to have read the article but O.K. there is no obligation for you to do so. ;)

Conventional CRPG writing has its root in text-adventure games and it used to fit 2D graphics nicely. Despite of nostalgia, however, considering the current 3D presentation in games, I cannot but wonder which is faster : veteran game-writers will adapt themselves to the modern games or talents from Hollywood will do so. The technology is evolving fast in this industry and a formula that worked in the past won't work in newer format.

The cruel reality is that the players can play in the actual presentation and not the concept of the designers, or what they intended to present.

What makes you say that? I did read the article. I just wasn't discussing it.

I thought what you wrote of dialog in games were relivant to the article but it can be just me. I haven't played BB after all.
Simply, I can agree with you that there are a few places in modern 3D games for long writing such as cut-scenes, System (Bio)Shock data pads and in-game writings.
