The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

I love the enigmatic guitarist and composer Bill Frisell, and he just released 'Big Sur', a commissioned suite about the California coast ... it includes violinist Jenny Scheinman (whose solo stuff I love) along with a 2nd violin, cello, drums, and of course Frisell on guitar. Just released this week and I am really digging it.

Here is the 'electronic press kit'

@Omega - funny video, but not exactly my favourite music style.
maybe you like this one too:
Ne Para uncensored - some kind of eastern european funny sexy Polka Rap :)
Watched it. Hm. Okay…

Both videos show naked boobs. To me there ends the similarity.
One's cheap. Sorry. Typical male soft porn if you ask me. The guys remind me of Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen).
In the Blurred Lines video the girls seem vulnerable, their bodies seem to be pale, only there faces are colored, when they're dressed it's white. The setting is sexy, I think, because the men are fully dressed and wearing color, often black. Sort of black and white contrast. Though the black is more pronounced against the white background, it's the girls that attract my eye the most. Apart from the girls being nude they act normally, as they would on a fashion show for instance, they walk around, they dance. I think the video is artistic, sophisticated.

But thanks for trying to please me, I always like that in a man. ;)

They are singing about a woman wasting a man's money - a serious and complex topic IMHO … Chuck Norris is in the lyrics, too ;)
Censored Version.

Every man knows the fateful sentence of a woman: "I have not a stitch to wear(…)
True for the women in these videos….

When thinking along the same lines as the Chuck Norris facts I could say:
Women don't WANT to have a stitch to wear when they (can) have Chuck Norris.

But I don't fancy Chuck Norris. Nor Van Damme, who is also mentioned in the song, apparently.

Woman wasting a man's money? That's sooooo 1950.
Today's man has evolved, he has learned how to waste his money - and hers. :)

First and foremost, the new Black Sabbath "13". Great cd, essential if you love metal.

Secondly, the latest Alice in Chains "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", isnt bad. Giving it a spin right now, it's a little different without their original singer, but still theyre retaining that particular sound due to his similarity in tone to Layne and the great guitarwork of Jerry Cantrell

Oh, there's a new Alice in Chains album? Must check it out - thanks for the tip, Sammy. I liked Jerry Cantrell's solo work as well, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

I'm currnetly listening to Psy's 'Gentleman' because I just bought it for the son who's been nagging for me to buy it for, like, ages. Now that he's home sick I caved in.

The AiC album is quite decent. Duvall is no Staley, but he does have heart and is a capable singer, no doubt about it. Saw them cover Kashmir a few years ago, and it was downright impressive.....and I normally do not care for LZ covers, but this was pretty special.

With a delay of about 20 years, I put Phil Collins' "Serious Hits - Live !" onto one audio cassette yesterday … I own the CD for about 20 years now, but I never did this before.

I transfer most of my CDs onto Audio Cassettes simply because I believe them to be much more sturdy than CDs - and far more cheaper to replace.

It's still a great album, imho, timeless and worth listening into, imho.

Especially its last song, "Take Me Home", which always almost makes me cry. To me, it appears to be the story of a handicapped person, or a homeless person. Either way, it's a great song played live, imho.

For nearly 20 years I have been putting music onto electronic devices first in AIFF/WAV ... then MP3 ... I only ever did the vinyl->cassette transfers. :)

Not quite my taste, but maybe it'll bring a smile on your face, you heavy metal fan.
I stumbled upon this video

And here's their website:

You tell me, are they any good?

As a lifelong metalhead, I would say YES, they definitely rock.
It's good to see some young brothas throwin down w/ some METAL instead of that rap crap!

Listening to and watching the character Death singing Crazy to Deadpool

I admittedly dont know much about Deadpool, or this death character, is he/she/it always done up n sort of quasi-Dia De Los Muertos style?

I love that particular part of Mexican culture, women done up in that sort of makeup just look damn awesome - and strangely hot as well at times….

Tell me that isnt just fkn cool looking. Go ahead, try and tell me..

For nearly 20 years I have been putting music onto electronic devices first in AIFF/WAV … then MP3 … I only ever did the vinyl->cassette transfers. :)

Vinyl -> Cassette came first. ;)

In the late 80s, it became a custom for me to buy Vinyls, put the Vinyl LPs onto the table, and record the outcome exactly ONCE onto an audio cassette - and then putting the Vinyl LP back into its shelf. ;)

That was the most effective way I could imagine keeping scratches away from them. ;)

CD -> Audio cassette was the next "evolutionary step" for me, especially since CDs can have scratches, too. ;)

As a result, all of my records are in a very, very good shape. I really handle them with care. ;)

The more disappointed I am when I buy used ones - sometimes records I couldn't find in shops anymore, because I had been late - and see how badly used and out-worn they were. :(

The only recods not treated that well by me are the first ones I had bought. When I was younger, then. ;)
