Default Richard Garriott - Video Tour/Interview

May 30th, 2009, 01:30
Following a link from GameBanshee to a Kotaku article titled The Many Automata of Richard Garriott, I found a three-part video series at a site called VBS.TV. The videos discuss Richard's start in the business and then tour his unusual home, showing off the observatory, hidden passages, collections of automata and more.
I've decided that hidden passages sound cool but manipulating a secret lock to go downstairs is just a pain in the ass.
More information.

Watch the first video - you'll get a good idea in the first minute or so.

Great PC name in the Ultima VI snippet: "Who Cares".

Also great to see a (new) video of his house. No matter how many flaws Ultima IX had, and how little I cared for Tabula Rasa, he is still a child at heart and I like that.

Btw, I first discovered VBS almost 2 years ago. They have some great documentaries on Bolivia, Rio de Janeiro, Sudan etc. You should stay on that site for a little longer.

Without Ultima game series, the RPG wouldn't be the same.

I used to live blocks from his old (and new) home in west austin, it was always fun to drive by and look at his observatory. His view from there was magnificent, Town Lake and the 360 bridge a stones throw away.
