Default Sacred II: Blind Guardian concert-Spoilerish

I have to say that was a pretty cool idea. I'm not sure if it's ever been done in a crpg/arpg before. When I got the quest to gather the instruments, I was pretty sure I'd be seeing something. I didn't know that Blind Guardian was a real Heavy Metal group. The whole cut scene was worth the price of admission by itself. Kudos to the now defunct Ascaron guys. Hopefully Deep Silver will keep your legacy alive.

Because I wasn't real excited about Sacred or its sequel, I had no idea what little tricks were inside the game. I didn't read any previews, watch any trailers, etc. Sacred II is paper thin on plot, but it gives you a ton of space to explore and millions of critters to slow down the exploration. Too bad someone couldn't mod out about 90% of the outdoor encounters. There are enough dungeons and such, that the outdoor combat just gets tedious. Still plodding along though…

I liked it for the most part, especially once I got my mount. Insane number of side quests, Ive never seen so many quests in a game. Mind-numbing respawn factor.

I dont think either work in the game's favor.

Biggest problem for me tho, and the reason that I finally uninstalled it about halfway thru is the game just ran terrible for me. Once things hit slideshow time, the party's over.

Something similar can be found in Gothic 1, German edition. It's not in the international editions, I heard, due to licensing problems ?

Also, in Drakensang, some members of bands famous among German RPG fans are voicing several characters. Also in Drakensang 2, I heard.

Here in Germany, the majority seems to believe that Metal & Fantasy in conjunction are in general "a natural choice". Which I can't understand, honestly and personally.

Yep, metal is definitely not the music of choice for this fantasy gamer. It was a cool idea though. I'm glad I waited a year or so before picking up Sacred 2. Most of the bugs have been ironed out and the game play is pretty smooth. I'm a completist, so I've done every quest I could find in the Elven lands before going "through the wall" to the Human lands. I've tried to uncover all the black and visit every cave, mine, etc. The problem with being so thorough is that I'm already level 35 and I'm probably not even halfway through the game.

On the mounts, I've read that there are special mounts but I'm not sure if you need the riding skill to obtain it. If so, I won't get one because riding seems a waste. I'm probably as fast as the horses I can buy, plus I can't fire spells from the back of the horse. Once I get where the enemies can root me, I might end up quitting. I absolutely hated being forced to fight when all I want to do is explore. Hopefully the expel magic spell will stop most of the root spells. We'll see.

I love metal , although BG are not of my favourites i think game theme is well done . Now about the quest that involves the concert there are other Easter eggs around ( even a Santa armor ! )

In general i prefer S1 underworld because of game play and ( yeah i was playing a flying Demon ) and because S2 uses stupid DRM .

You don't need riding skill but the mounts affect your regeneration values , riding skill will help you keeping them down. You can cast spells from the back of your dragon (mages get a dragon , my Sera gets a Smilodon ) plus after investing points you will see big difference in speed

Elven land is only a small area of the game (i bet you fought the Griffin and got the Boneslicer sword ) i found human territory less interesting and much more crowded yet it surprises me that a character with AOE spells finds the place too crowded , just think of swordfighters or pistollero builts…

I fear you'd evoke quite a lot of flaming (cynically put) in any German RPG forum with saying things like that.

In fact people who believe that metal and fantasy do NOT fit together, are quite in the minority there - or so it appears to me.

It's not like I suggested Metal and Drugs don't go together now or tattoos

It depends on who you are asking.

Among fantasy fans - yes, I think you might be right, but there's also quite a number liking metal music.
